Cantorion Cregiau
The choir was formed in 1971 in the village of Creigiau(a few miles
north/west of Cardiff). Usually
between 40 and 65 voices appear in concerts. Venues
are wide ranging - churches, cathedrals, village
halls and concert halls to mention but a few. The choir has
performed in Ireland,
Italy, Vienna, Brittany and Hong Kong as well as regular concerts in
Wales and England. A concert tour
of Minorca is planned for October 2010. This will be their
5th visit to the Turner Sims.
Conductor - Mair Roberts
She trained at The Guildhall School of Music and the Italia Conte Stage
School. She served her
apprenticeship in London, working theatre, cabaret, pantomimes and
television. She was the initial conductor for the
choir and has been musical director throughout its
existence.
Mair?s career as a professional soprano has resulted in her performing
on some of the world?s major platforms i.e. Sydney Opera House and in
Hong Kong. She is in great demand as an adjudicator
at Eisteddfodau and Musical Festivals.
Accompanist - Helen
Wilkinson
We are delighted that Helen has rejoined the Choir. Her
performance in the past has been outstanding and memorable.
She gained BA(Hons) at the Royal Welsh College of Music and
Drama and has played at the highest
level, playing alongside Bryn Terfel and James Galway.
Rose
Road Association
For the past 57 years, the Rose Road Association has worked with
hundreds of children and young people from across Hampshire and the
south of England. Those who attend Rose Road have complex and multiple
disabilities and require a range of specialist care and
equipment. In order to carry out our work the money
raised through our fundraising activities make a vital difference. It
helps to pay for transport, therapy and other services which
are so important, as well as helping young people to enjoy themselves
and have fun. A year ago we launched the Change My Life Appeal and the
money raised through this has enabled us to do so much, from providing
music therapy sessions and specialist equipment through to wonderful
day trips and activity days.
