A Typical Rotary Year

During the course of a year there are both social and fund raising activities.  The social activities include partner's evenings and visits, the President's Ball, the Christmas Party and Handover.  The fund raising events are varied and some are similar to those in previous years. They can be either International projects organised by Rotary International, like Polio Plus, overseas aid projects organised by this club with one or two other clubs either UK or foreign, or UK and local aid projects.

Typical UK and local aid projects:-

blob Support for Leukaemia Busters
blob Support for The Society of St. James
blob Sponsorship of the CD's "Coping with Life" distributed to schools in Southampton.
blob Financial Assistance to an aspiring young actor
blob Holiday provision for a needy family
blob Christmas hampers to disadvantaged families in Southampton
blob Support to local causes such as Wessex Heartbeat, Rose Road, Avenue Centre & the Honeypot Charity
blob Provision of prizes for Southampton in Bloom
blob Kids Out

To raise funds for these projects the Club organises these regular events

A Classic Car Run in the New Forest

A Wine Tasting evening

A Car Wash at Sainsbury, Hedge End before Christmas

A Christmas Tin Shake on the Itchen Bridge

Other one-off events are run for specific ends in any given year.
