On a fine sunny evening members
gathered at the harbourside in Eling creek (just outside Totton).
There they were given some route instructions and a list of
questions which had to answered on the way to the mystery destination,
where we had been promised there would be food on the beach!
(Your reporter was travelling solo, which was something of a handicap,
as trying to look out for the answers to the clues/questions, keep on
the proper side of the road
and
find
safe places to stop and write down the answers, meant that I only had
75% of them by the time I reached the beach!)
Calshot Spit has some very nice beach huts at its western end and fine
views of the Solent looking eastwards toward Spithead and southwards
across to Cowes. Our president,
James, had volunteered the use of his family's hut as the base for the
barbeque and a very jolly time was had by all. Thank
you
James - and Gill! Thanks also are due to
Maurice
& Beryl, who had devised the route
and the (devilish!)
questions.
